Order Opens New Alzheimer's Centre in China
Thursday 26 May 2011 was the date chosen
by the Korean Province for the Official Opening of its new Alzheimer's Centre
at Yanji in China. In the presence of many distinguished persons including the
Korean Provincial, Brother John Jung, and the APIPC President, Brother Brian O’Donnell,
a representative of the Governor of the Prefecture in which Yanji is located,
Mrs Jin Jing Yan .
The new centre is located within the Order’s Yanbian Hospice. It has a capacity of 23 beds and continues an expansion of the work of the Order in China which began when its palliative care hospice was officially opened in December 2005.
Nineteen Brothers and Co-workers travelled from Korea to Yanji for the ceremony. Following a General Chapter’s (Granada, 2000) adoption of the China Project for implementation and support, the Korean Province has been responsible for its progress. The present Yanji Community includes Korean, Vietnamese and Irish Brothers.
