'Preparing the Soil' - Vocations Ireland at Ploughing Championships
This year, once again, Vocations Ireland had a stand at the National Ploughing
Championships. in Athy, Co. Kildare A prayer space had been created at the back
of the tent and many were glad of the opportunity to take a break
from the crowds and noise. Good use
was also made of the prayer petition corner, where people were able to write out their prayer
requests which will be passed on to the
contemplative monasteries and included in their prayer during the coming
months.
Sr. Eileen Linhehan, Director of Vocations Ireland, said that young people, especially those preparing to sit exams where happy to come in to the tent and pick up the ‘Exam Prayer’ cards on display.
Although it is a difficult time for vocations, attitudes towards the Vocations Ireland tent were very positive, again, Sr. Eileen said, that people were happy to see a religious presence among the many thousands of other exhibits.
Religious and lay people working on Vocations Teams joined Sr. Eileen to help out on the tent over the three days
