Adore 2011 Youth Conference for Letterkenny
A major Catholic Youth Eucharistic conference is taking place in County Donegal this week.
The conference entitled Adore takes place in both Saint Eunan's Cathedral and Saint Eunan's College in Letterkenny from Wednesday November 2 to Friday November 4. It is being organised by the Alliance of the Holy Family International (AHFI) and Mary Help of Christian Crusades who previously organised the 2009 Adore conference in Cork City.
The conference is focused on the 18-35 age group and aims to bring them back to the grassroots of their Catholic faith. Over the course of the residential retreat, participants will take part in inspiring talks, role-plays, workshops, candle-light Eucharistic Processions, all in a spirit of fun.
According to its website, the conference aims, “To draw young people to a greater, respect and devotion for Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament and see how God can become their source of real peace and joy.”
Participants are asked to bring their sleeping bag to the event, with accommodation and food free over the three days.
Under 18's are allowed participate in the event but must be accompanied by an adult.
The conference, which was launched last week by Tyrone Senior football manager Mickey Harte, commences at 3:30pm on Wednesday November 2 with registration, followed by Mass in Saint Eunan's cathedral at 5:30pm.
A number of noted speakers will also contribute to the conference including Oblate priest Fr Joe Viola OMI, who is his congregation’s spiritual director for North America and Australia, as well Fr Edgardo Arellano from the Alliance of the Holy Family International.
