Limerick priests produce Christmas CD in aid of Lourdes fund
The administrator of the Diocese of Limerick, as well as six of his priests, have teamed up to produce a special Christmas CD featuring a number of favourite Christmas songs.
Fr Tony Mullins (pictured), along with six priests and five young lay musicians and with Fr Frank O'Connor from Saint Munchin's College in Limerick acting as narrator, have combined to produce the CD and will perform a special concert at Saint John's Cathedral in Limerick City on December 16 with all proceeds going to the Limerick Diocesan pilgrimage to Lourdes.
The CD itself features a number of popular Christmas songs such as Silent Night, When a Child is Born, andAdeste Fideles as well as a host of other songs.
Limerick City based parish priest and singer Fr Terry Loughran said he was really looking forward to the concert. He said, “Christmas is the ultimate season of hope. It's a time when we really can believe that all things are possible. Hope is the essential message of the birth of Christ and we need that sense of hope now more than ever.”
He added, “The idea for this celebration of hope was borne out of our challenge as a clergy and our resultant need of hope. We have been affected here in the Limerick diocese as much as any other over recent years by various revelations and fall-outs from them but there is nowhere we need to look to for hope in the darkest hours than in the birth of Christ.”
The CD retails at €15 and can be purchased from a number of outlets in Limerick city including Limerick Pastoral centre.
