The Order in East Timor is having a significant influence on psychiatric services. It operates a centre for persons in the acute phase of psychiatric illness. The Order has also been recognized as a qualified training entity for persons working in the area of mental health.
Last August the Brothers organized a 5 day course for nurses responsible for mental health at the national and district levels. This kind of course was repeated in November and more similar courses are planned for 2012.
