St. John of God Leadership Conference in Asia
A group of 18 leaders of the Order in the Asia Pacific Region recently passed five days together in conference at Damyang in the Republic of Korea.
The conference was part of the response of the Region to the Prior General’s call to the Order to give a greater commitment to renewal. The conference was enriched by the presence of the Prior General, Brother Donatus Forkan, and General Councillor Vincent Kochamkunnel. It was facilitated by Marist priest, Rev. Michael Mullins from Australia. Participants in the conference came from Australia, East Timor, China, India, Korea, the Philippines and Vietnam.
The purpose of the conference was to provide a significant spiritual and relational experience that would help participants to lead their Provinces, Delegations and Communities in the renewal process. The style and format of the conference brought forth lively discussion of the actual experience and challenges in the future life of the Order in the Asia Pacific Region. Each Provincial and Delegate reported the three most significant events in the life of their Province or Delegation and outlined the three most urgent challenges they face. This information provided the basis of the discussions and resolutions. But that is news for another time!
