TG4 Documentary on Work of St. John of God Brothers in Malawi
Tonighton TG4 a programme called Croi Te nahAfraice (The Warm Heart of Africa) will tell the story of the St. John ofGod mission in Malawi. Br. AidanClohessy, who heads up the mission there, arrivedin Mzuzu in October 1993 in response to an invitation from the Diocese of Mzuzuto establish a community based Mental Health Service as part of the Church'sresponse to the unmet health care needs of the people of the Northern Region ofMalawi which has a population of 1,500,000. Br. Aidan has been working there since then. Last year the first two Malawian Brothers were professed asSt. John of God Brothers.
To coincide with theprogramme, John Dunford of Daisy Entertainment has produced a CD of the Umoza(Street Kids) Musical group, entitled Tumbuka Voices whichfeatures in the documentary. TheCD also features Justin Adams and Sharon Shannon, all proceeds will go to theSt John of God Services, Malawi. The CD is available for sale from http://www.umozachallenge.com .
